Quick and easy Vietnamese-style avocado shake!

This is a super refreshing treat with only 4 ingredients needed 🙂 I like my shakes REALLY thicc but you can thin it out by adding more milik. You can also swap out the condensed milk with another sweetener but it won’t be as creamy!

1 large ripe avocado
⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk
⅓ cup milk
1 cup ice cubes

Blend until smooth. Enjoy!!

Chinese style cucumber garlicky salad 🥒 I love quick and easy side dishes like this, especially when I don’t want to cook.

This recipe was inspired by Nan Xiang in Flushing! I swear if cucumber garlic is on the menu, I’m ordering it! Anyone else relate? 😅

* 6 cloves garlic
* 3 tbsp oil
* 5 Persian cucumbers
* 1 tsp salt
* cilantro for garnish

Sauce
* 1 tbsp soy sauce
* 1 tsp sugar
* 1/4 tsp sesame oil
* 1 tbsp black vinegar
* 1/8 tsp msg, optional

1. Cut cucumbers into thirds then into quarters
2. Mix with salt and set aside for 20 min
3. Drain and pat dry
4. Toss cucumbers with sauce ingredients
5. Garnish with cilantro

Enjoy!!

FRESH KOREAN BANANA MILK 🍌🍼

I might get some hate for this but I just can’t get with the store bought Korean banana milk. They taste artificial and reminds me of those vending machine banana candies from back in the day (millenials know) 😛

Making it fresh at home tastes 100x better and it’s super easy!!

For 2 servings:
2 ripe banana
1 1/2 cups milk your choice of milk
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp honey or your choice of sweetener, adjust to your liking
1 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt (optional)

Blend or mash everything together! Enjoy :))

On the rare occasion you have char siu leftover, make char siu fried rice!

When I was a kid, I would visit my Aunt’s house and we would order Chinese takeout from a local restaurant every week. My go-to order was always fried chicken wings with char siu fried rice. Let’s just say I was a chubby kid lol.

This recipe reminded me so much of the fried rice I used to eat so it’s a very nostalgic dish. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! 🙂

char siu but make it easy! my dad approved this recipe so you know it's a good one 😋

this super tender and juicy char siu only takes 12-14 minutes to cook in the air fryer compared to 45-60 minutes in the oven. i kept it real simple with the help of @leekumkeeusa char siu sauce and adding a few extra ingredients to make it extra bangin'. the key to a nice caramelized crust is to baste the char siu with the honey marinade every few minutes!

- ingredients -
1 1/2 lbs pork shoulder

- sauce -
5 tbsp char siu sauce
1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp shaoxing wine
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp five spice powder
1 tbsp honey
1/8 tsp white pepper powder

- honey marinade for basting -
2 tbsp sauce from above
2 tbsp honey
2 tsp water

1. cut the pork into 1 inch thick slices. stab with a fork to tenderize.
2. mix sauce ingredients together. set aside 2 tbsp of sauce for the honey marinade for basting.
3. combine pork with sauce and marinate for 12-24 hours (longer the better ~ thats what she said).
4. cook at 400F for 12-14 minutes.
5. baste with honey marinade every 3 minutes while flipping.
6. allow to rest for 10 minutes before cutting

Shrimp Pan Fried Noodles~

I grew up eating these Hong Kong style pan fried noodles every week at Sunday dimsum and it was my favorite part of the meal. The crunchy exterior and soft/tender interior smothered in thick gravy was just... mmmph!

I only used shrimp for this recipe but you can use an assortment of seafood or any protein you like!

Ingredients
8 oz shrimp, peeled + deveined
8 oz fresh Hong Kong pan fried noodles
4 tbsp neutral oil, divided
3 thin slices ginger
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 oz carrot, thinly sliced
2 oz celery, sliced
2 oz beech mushrooms
1 scallion, chopped
1/2 tbsp Shaoxing wine, or rice wine
3 oz yu choy, or your choice of vegetables

Sauce
1 1/2 cups chicken stock, low-sodium
2 tsp oyster sauce
1 tsp soy sauce
½ tsp sesame oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1/8 tsp white pepper powder
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water

🥑🌹 Some of you asked how I made the avocado rose in my salmon poke bowl video and it's actually super easy. It's definitely something to keep in your back pocket when you want to elevate the plating aesthetic.

.𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕡𝕤.
1. You'll need a very rice avocado. It needs to be completely soft for this to work.
2. Cut the avocado in half then peel it.
3. Place one half cut side down.
4. Using the tip of a knife, make thin slices lengthwise.
5. Fan out the slices into a long line
6. Curl one end towards the center until you get a rose
7. Press down to so spread out the petals

And that's it! 🙂

Pepper beef rice, my new comfort food 🫶

If you have rice on deck, this comes together in just 15 minutes for a quick lunch or dinner! My favorite part is the crispy toasted rice at the bottom of the pan so if that's your thing too, let the rice cook untouched for a few minutes after you mix everything together.

* 12 oz thinly sliced beef
* 1/4 thinly sliced onion
* 1 tbsp oil
* ½ cup canned corn
* 2 chopped scallions
* 1 tbsp butter
* 1 tsp salt
* 1 tsp black pepper
* 1 1/2 bowls of white rice

𝕤𝕒𝕦𝕔𝕖
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp mirin
1 1/2 tbsp honey
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp cornstarch
2 garlic cloves grated

This is the most flavorful, umami-rich seafood soondubu jjigae ever!!

I went clamming the other day and was excited to find clams as big as my fists. But after cooking them, they were mad tough T.T The little clams ended up being perfect but I had like 4 dozen large clams I need to eat soooo....

I made an anchovy clam broth, blended the clam meat into a goopy paste and used that in the soup base for soondubu jjigae. This jjigae is a spicy seafood flavor bomb so if you're a seafood lover like me, you have to give this a try!!

All I want is cukes 😝🥒

These slinky cukes are irresistibly tasty and refreshing. The sauce is easily customizable so adjust and make it how you like!

• 4-5 persian cucumbers
• 1/2 tbsp salt
• 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tsp sesame oil
• 1 tsp sugar
• 2 tsp black vinegar
• 1/2 tbsp gochugaru
• 1 1/2 tbsp chili oil
• 4 cloves garlic grated
• 1 tsp sesame seeds

- cut and salt the cucumbers for 20-30 minutes
- rinse in cold water then pat dry well
- mix soy, sesame oil, sugar, vinegar, gochugaru, chili oil, garlic, and sesame seeds together
- toss cukes in the sauce and enjoy!

Growing up I've watched my mom make maeun tang with fish head and bones and it’s a super delicious Korean soup that literally translates to 'spicy soup'.

You can also use chunks of fish but the bones and head is a good way to minimize waste and use every part of the fish!

Fish head is a popular ingredient in many Asian cultures, but I haven't really seen it used as the main ingredient in Western cuisine! Are there any fish head recipes in your culture that you enjoy? 🙂
